today i am grateful for waking up next to a man i love and respect more every single day, for the few moments of quiet we have together before starting our day, for the children who give us hugs every morning, for their bright little faces and the stories they can’t wait to tell us, for casual family breakfasts, for my little girl plugging in the lights on the christmas tree as soon as she gets up, for the fact that her christmas list includes more christmas decorations, for the questions she asks every night when we tuck her in, for having a boy who begs begs begs to read just a little longer every night before bed, for encouraging their intellectual creativity, for doing so even when it would be easier on us not to, for subtlety, for food that is made by hand with love, for fresh clean sheets on the kids beds when they get tucked in tonight, for showers before bed!, for the absolute unbearable joy that comes from watching your children make snow angels in freshly fallen snow, for snow because without it…no snow angels!, for the morning light in the kitchen, for the way it makes the day feel so full of possibility, for the fact that my children still believe in santa, for their innocence, for their joy, for….
