today i am grateful for …
for hot humid weather, for summer eating, for shorts and tang tops and flip flops, for my little girl’s singing voice in the background of my day all summer long, for picture windows, for bay windows, for generous friends, for people who do the right thing because it feels right, for puppies, for pink ribbons, for freshly baked chocolate chip cookies, for lolling about on the deck at the cottage with a good book, for snacks at the same time!, for the friends who will water your herb garden while you are away, for purple basil growing in my back yard, for when a child knows they have done a good thing for its own sake, for people who don’t make you cringe, for crisp sweet apples, for bubblegum, for grape Koolaid!, for pretending I was sick when I was little so I could miss school and go to bowling with my mom, for my kids being their own little awesome selves, for beds just slept in, for beds beautifully made, for beautiful bedside lamps,
