Traveling is hard on your system. Adjusting to a new time zone and sleep schedules, changes in diet and exposure to a new environment with all of the various germs common to the area can take a toll on the body. Have you ever come home from a vacation and feel like you’re coming down with something before even getting off the plane? The physical demands of traveling in combination with the recirculated airplane air can result illness at a time when you’d rather be feeling your best so that you can enjoy yourself.

Here are four important things we should all do in the two weeks leading up to a vacation.

1. Stay hydrated. This is one of the best things any of us can do in resisting illness at any time but especially in preparation for travel. 4. Take your vitamins. Even if you’re eating well, vitamins provide added security. Be sure to take your vitamins with you on your trip as well. It’s usually difficult to maintain a healthy diet while on vacation. Taking vitamins will help keep your immune system up while you travel. Try to at least take a multi while you’re away.

These four simple things will help all travelers enjoy a healthy vacation while also enoucraging optimal energy for all of the activities you have planned. Whether you’re laying on the beach or touring the sites, you will better enjoy your trip if you are feeling your best.
