inspiration elsewhere
This I am inspired by the clean lines of a little black dress, the parenting wisdom of a popular self-help author and the beauty of a well designed interior space. Click on any of the images below to see the linked pages.
~This Black Halo dress at belle grey has been on my wish list for some time. The store now has an online shopping option which makes resisting this dress more and more difficult. I think it’s safe to say that it will soon be residing happily in my closet. The dress is also available in a Heather Almond but I prefer the black.

~Stephen R. Covey has added to his 7 Habits of Highly Effective People with The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Families. The first few lines of the book read:
“Good families – even great families – are off track 90 percent of the time! The key is that they have a sense of destination. They know what the ‘track’ looks like. And they keep coming back to it time and time again.”
I love this because, unlike other parenting books, the message is that it’s okay to be you, it’s okay to make mistakes. There is an incontrovertible relief in the permission to be human and to know that in so being you are not completely wrecking your children. I thank Mr. Covey for this from the bottom of my very human heart.

~I have a great deal of fun browsing the home tours at apartment therapy. I could get lost on that site for hours at a time. I’m linking to Amanda and Derek’s loft in Central Falls, Rhode Island here but honestly, it’s all loveliness and joy at apartment therapy.
I love the open shelving in Amanda and Derek’s kitchen and the overall sense that it’s an ‘artist’s space’. In fact, on first viewing the kitchen photo I thought, ooooh, artist’s studio…. and then I noticed the stove and refrigerator.
