DIY jewelry box loot bag for girl’s birthday party
My daughter is a creative soul. She loves so paint, draw, write – you name it, she’s there. For her loot bags this year we came up with something special she could have a hand in creating. Here’s what to do if you’d like to try something similar for your next all girl party.
~Buy wooden boxes and craft paint (ours are from the dollar store).
~Have the birthday girl paint each box with a design of her choosing – try not to intervene too much on this. Her work may be imperfect but it will be charming and well appreciated by her friends. These lovely boxes are meant to be a gift given from her to her friends rather than an expression of her mother’s perfection
~Using stickers from the craft or dollar store, add affix the letter for each child’s name to the top of the box. You cal also use paint and stencils or stamps to name each box. Add any other flat stickers at this stage – but keep in mind that some may bleed color when varnished in the next step.
~Paint each box with a craft glaze and allow to dry before adding 3D emellishments.

~Add your goodies!
Obviously you’ll have to make sure that anything you want to put in the box will fit. Here are the items we chose:

…a small bag of candy we prepared with candy selected at a bulk food store
…a tube of lip gloss
…barrettes
…a phone cord style hair elastic
…a pink bubble tube
…a small wooden paint project
…chocolate coins
…2 cloth decorations from the ones we used on the top of the box
et voila!

This was a fun project for both my daughter and myself. We enjoyed shopping for everything together as much as we did preparing everything. I think she is more excited to share what she made than she is to get gifts herself!
